The Clay Mask project is intended to explore the possibilities of combining bold contrasts in a 3-dimensional mask shape

After the initial concepts were introduced, eight squares were made from Sculpey Clay, in order to create a design for the final project.
The squares above show the contrasts of Positive & Negative, Straight & Curvilinear, Geometric & Organic, Unity & Conflict, Concave & Convex, Thick &Thin, and Smooth & Rough.
After choosing a final concept, the mask was created with Sculpey Clay, laid over a curved sheet of aluminum, and then baked.
The final piece shows a contrast of smooth and rough, using lines.
